I am an African American who lives and works in a predominately white community. During the 2008 presidential campaign, I sat and listened to my coworkers talk about Barack Obama and how they didn't want to vote for him. I am forty nine years old and have been in the workforce long enough to know that you don't mix poliltics with work because it can cause heated debates and angry feelings when people disagree on candidates. Although I was an Obama supporter, I never once tried to convince anyone that they should vote for Obama. When Obama was elected, it was one of the proudest moments in my life. I never thought that I would live to see an African American become president. I went to the mall and bought an Obama tee shirt which read HOPE and had a nice picture of Obama on it. I went to work, proud to be wearing a tee shirt with our newly elected president on it. I was at work for about an hour and a half when my manager came up and told me that she needed to talk to me. I said okay and she walked me into myother managers office and they told me that I had to cover up my shirt because it was political. They told me that it was in the the handbook stated that we couldn't wear anything political. My question is, how is my wearing a tee shirt of the newly elected president political. The political campaign was over and he had already been elected president.

I can understand your felling
I can understand your felling but you should not be complaining. Now he is our president and got elected because we all us wanted him to be our president. There was no biasing against any community at least in this election.
But what you have said is very true. The feeling of color still exits in all part of the society and we should not expect it to change overnight because now we have an afro American president. Things have changed if we compare what it was 100 years back and things would change in next 100 years. So lets be optimist and hope god ‘ll help us to be better individuals
