I just moved into a new house, and my water smells like eggs...?

Will the smell go away on it's own after the water is used for a while, or do I have to spend an arm and a leg on a water treatment system? It seems to be getting better after about a week, but maybe I'm getting used to it.

In most places where sulphur

In most places where sulphur is a problem, it is limited to outside areas where you draw water from a well. You shouldn't have this with your inside supply assuming that you are on a municipal water service. Check with your new neighbors first and see if they have the same problem.

It will diminish and totally

It will diminish and totally be gone in time. Run the water from each and every faucet for 5 minutes or so each day. The odor is that of sulphur which comes from the breakdown of chemicals used to purify municipal water. It is not harmful to use. If your water is from a local (on your property) well, the sulphur is not normal and should be tested. Most health departments will do this without charge. This happened with regularity at my vacation home which would be closed up for weeks to months.
